Winter's war

Winter has been, for the most part, mild and boring. Moderate tempertures with occasional overnight freezings. Some days are so sunny and cheerful I can actually feel spring's presence. In fact, a few days ago the weather was so pleasant that we waded barefoot in the Puget Sound! The sun felt good as it baked on our faces and thoughts of planting, mowing and trimming danced around in my head. As I sat on a log, my sunglasses dimming the sun's glory, the spring bug bit me hard and I silently said farewell to winter... that was then. Now, with all of it's might ,winter has returned my farewell with white streets and persistant powder; as if to say "I'm still here". Even now, as I sit and write this, determined snowflakes fall outside my window. Like a true warrior, winter is not going down without a fight! To winter's silent declaration the Francis family said:  "Bring it on... we've been waiting for you!"
P.S. THANK YOU...

for letting us bond with you...

and for giving us dog arsenal...

smooth tracks...

and one more reason to cuddle...

Winter's 'surprise attack' left us with happy scars today; all but one...

This was Gracie's reaction to the words 'It's time to go inside'.
And to this I say:
"Touche' winter, touche'."
